Errors in oral hygiene
During the daily cleaning of the teeth we commit numerous errors that we do not realize. These errors lead to serious consequences of dental health. In this article we will investigate these errors, their causes and possible solutions.
Wrong brushing
The most used technique in cleaning the teeth is to hold the toothbrush in a horizontal manner and brush from right to left. Now try to imagine your teeth as those of a comb. How do you remove your hair from inside? Brush from bottom to top. Eureka! It is precisely in this way that the teeth should be brushed. It starts from the gum and flows to the tip of the tooth. Then change the direction from bottom to top if you clean the bottom and top down if you clean the top of the mouth.
How many times do you brush your teeth a day?
If you ask this question to yourself and to many other people, do you know what the answer will be? Classic “I brush my teeth 2 times a day, morning and evening”. Now stop and think, what good is it to wash your teeth when you wake up, if you did it before you got into bed and assumed that during the night you did not eat while you were sleeping? And then have breakfast, then snack, then lunch, in the afternoon eat a little something to stop the appetite and evening dinners. And when do you brush your teeth in the evening? After all you ate during the day? The teeth must ALWAYS be washed after eating something, especially if sweet.
How much time do you spend on brushing?
In general it is said that the teeth should be brushed for at least 3 minutes, but I try to do more and give you a discount, 2 minutes. Now put yourself in front of the mirror, start brushing and start the stopwatch. Have you seen how long two minutes are? Did you understand that you brush your teeth too little? Most people brush their teeth for less than 30 seconds. It’s like taking a shower in two minutes and pretending to be neat and clean. Impossible. The advice to spend more time is to start from the most hidden parts and at the bottom of the oral cavity, and then come out slowly.
How much toothpaste do you use?
Have you ever seen advertisements for toothpastes? Squeeze half a tube on the toothbrush, neglecting the edges abundantly both on one side and the other. Did you think it was the correct quantity given that you put it in the foreground and full screen? Wrong, it is only the correct quantity to consume more and consequently buy more tubes. Just a small ball of toothpaste to clean the teeth, if we use too much not only is useless, but even harmful!
The toothpaste
Also in this case are the advertisements that have to sell the various products to condition us. They make us believe that using that toothpaste rather than another solves the problems of the world. But is not so. The most experienced dentists will always tell you “You can brush your teeth without toothpaste, but you can not wash them without a toothbrush”. Toothpaste is an adjunct to cleaning teeth, does not work miracles, contains fluoride, gives a small hand, but what really matters is the action of the brushes against the teeth. Without a proper rubbing you want to squeeze tubes, it would be useless.
